2026 Election in RS: Live Tally of Federal Deputies
O Globo provides updated data as votes are counted

The vote counting for federal deputies in Rio Grande do Sul is already underway live on O GLOBO's website, which tracks in real time the release of results by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Voting closes in the first round nationwide at 5:00 PM, Brasília time, and from that moment on, votes are updated simultaneously in the newspaper's special tallying environment.
How the vote tally works in RS
In O GLOBO's tallying space, readers can follow the progress of the count, the total ballot boxes processed, and the percentage of votes for each candidate. It is also possible to search for a specific candidate by name and check the numbers of abstentions, blank votes, and null votes.
The calculation of the electoral quotient
Because federal deputies are elected under the proportional system, the calculation of the electoral coefficient determines the distribution of seats by party. First, the Electoral Justice calculates the electoral quotient (EQ), which considers the total valid votes for the position and the number of available seats. Next, the party quotient (PQ) is defined by dividing each party's total votes by the EQ. The most voted candidates from each party win the seats, provided they have received at least 10% of the electoral quotient.
Who will represent RS in the Chamber
With 31 seats, Rio Grande do Sul's congressional delegation is proportional to its population. The complete list of the 31 elected lawmakers will only be released after the final tally, when the TSE makes available the names of the candidates who will serve in the Legislature starting in 2027.
Comparison with voting in Acre
While in RS the tallying takes place in real time, the state of Acre, with 615,158 eligible voters, experienced voting under strong sun and intense heat. The capital, Rio Branco, concentrates over 40% of the state's electorate. The Federal Police recorded five isolated incidents in Acre, but voting proceeded with relative tranquility, ending at 3:00 PM local time due to the time zone difference compared to Brasília.
