DIM faces Chicó this Saturday at 6:10 p.m. at La Independencia stadium in Tunja on matchday 10 of the Clausura 2026. The match has drawn attention because the Medellín team has not won on Boyacá soil in eight years.

Altitude and conditions at La Independencia stadium

Located at nearly 2,800 meters above sea level, La Independencia stadium is the highest venue where professional football is played in Colombia. The altitude, the cold, and the pitch—generally in poor condition—make the game particularly difficult for visiting teams.

Recent head-to-head record between DIM and Chicó

DIM's last triumph in Tunja came in February 2018, winning 2-1 with goals from Jesús Murillo and Andrés Ricaurte. Since then, the team has gone eight matches without a win in the Boyacá capital.

DIM's current performance in the competition

So far, DIM has recorded six wins, one draw, and two defeats in nine matches across three different tournaments. The victories came in the league against Pasto, Cali, Tolima, Llaneros, and Pereira, in addition to a cup win. The club sits in third place in the Apertura with 15 points, two behind leader América.

Chicó's position in the standings

Chicó, meanwhile, sits in 17th place with five points. In the six matches played, the team has won just one (2-0 over Once Caldas), drawn two, and lost three.

DIM's investments and signings

According to the Transfermarkt portal, DIM's payroll is the fifth most expensive in Colombian football, valued at 13.98 million euros. Midfielder Juanfer Quintero, valued at 1.8 million euros, is the team's most expensive player. In addition, the club confirmed the return of striker Jackson Martínez, an idol of Medellín, who arrives after long spells abroad aiming to pursue the title in December.

Expectations for the match

With the combination of recent signings and the unfavorable track record in Tunja, DIM enters as the favorite to come out on top against Chicó. A victory could bring them closer to the league leader, while Chicó tries to move away from the danger zone.
