Danilo undergoes surgery after collision in derby against Fluminense
Flamengo defender received hospital treatment and will miss upcoming matches

Flamengo defender Danilo was taken to the hospital after suffering a facial collision during the derby against Fluminense on Sunday. Tests revealed two jaw fractures, leading to recommended surgery on Monday.
The collision during the derby
Danilo came on in the 44th minute of the second half, replacing Carrascal, with the Rubro-Negro already leading 1-0. Just a few minutes later, during an attacking play, he collided with goalkeeper Fábio, suffering jaw pain and localized bleeding.
Medical attention and diagnosis
Following the impact, the player received immediate treatment on the pitch, returned to play, and completed the match. Afterwards, he was taken to the dressing room and then directly to the hospital, where he underwent a CT scan of his face and skull. The scan identified two fractures in his jaw.
Surgical procedure
Flamengo announced that Danilo agreed to surgical treatment. The procedure will be performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeon Gustavo Machado, monitored by club doctors Dr. Fernando Sassaki and Dr. Luiz Macedo. Surgery is scheduled for Monday morning (12).
Impact on Flamengo
With his recovery ahead, Danilo will miss the upcoming stretch of the season. Flamengo's next match will be on Thursday (15), the first leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals against Estudiantes in Argentina. Additionally, the club remains in contention for the Campeonato Brasileiro title.
Next steps for Danilo
The club has not provided a timetable for the player's return following surgery. In the meantime, the coaching staff will need to adjust the defense for the upcoming decisive matches.
