Caregiver in Focus: Legal Dispute and New Training in São José do Rio.
Understand the controversy involving Angélica's former caregiver and the offer of free training in the region

The topic of caregivers has gained prominence in recent weeks due to two distinct news items: a legal dispute between TV host Angélica and a former caregiver for her father, and the opening of registrations for a free elderly caregiver course in São José do Rio Preto. Both events generated intense public interest.
Legal Controversy Involving Angélica's Former Caregiver
In the labor lawsuit filed by the former caregiver of Angélica's father, the professional is claiming R$ 191,674.18 in labor rights. The TV host's defense requested the judge to apply a 5% fine on the updated value of the case, which amounts to approximately R$ 9.6 thousand. The request for a penalty is based on an allegation of bad-faith litigation, despite there being no judicial decision recognizing such conduct.
Request for Fine and Admission of Guilt
The judge had already applied the penalty of confession, which allows the facts presented by the opposing party to be considered true, within procedural limits. The former caregiver, identified by the initials J. C., presented a medical certificate to justify his absence from a hearing and requested a new date without penalties. Angélica's defense contested the justification, pointing out a discrepancy between the time of the hearing and the recorded medical appointment.
Free Elderly Caregiver Course in São José do Rio Preto
Concurrently, the Liga Riopretense de Inclusão e Apoio Social, in partnership with the City Hall of São José do Rio Preto and the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Employment, opened pre-registrations for a new class of the free elderly caregiver course. There are 39 vacancies, with an anticipated start on November 9, 2026, and an end date of January 11, 2027.
