Striker Carlos Vinícius has come onto Corinthians' radar as the primary target to replace Yuri Alberto should the club’s No. 9 be sold. Currently playing for Grêmio, the player has previously spoken with the São Paulo side and remains interested in wearing the Timão shirt. However, the Corinthians board is taking a cautious approach and will only move forward financially once the current starter departs.

Corinthians' attacking strategy

The club’s management is planning for the offensive sector and has identified Carlos Vinícius as the priority option for the squad. A concrete pursuit of the player depends directly on a financial transaction involving Yuri Alberto. The board understands that selling the current No. 9 would free up salary space and provide the necessary budget to acquire new reinforcements. As journalist Samir Carvalho reported: "The information the Carlos Vinícius staff has, and what I heard inside Corinthians, is this: Corinthians will only move forward with Carlos Vinícius if Yuri Alberto is sold."

Carlos Vinícius' history with the club

Carlos Vinícius, who has played for European teams such as Benfica and Fulham, is not a new name behind the scenes of Parque São Jorge. He has been on the agenda in previous transfer windows, and senior club officials have confirmed initial talks with the player’s staff to understand the values involved in a possible deal. The striker views a move positively and maintains his desire to play for Corinthians, but negotiations remain stalled until Yuri Alberto’s future is decided.

Seeking stability under Fernando Diniz

The market activity comes at a time when Corinthians is looking for greater on‑field consistency this season. The team, led by coach Fernando Diniz, recently suffered a 2‑1 defeat to Coritiba in a match at Couto Pereira for the Brazilian Championship. The loss left the club in tenth place with 32 points and revived questions about the defensive system’s performance and the team’s collective stability.

Parallel moves in the transfer market

While Corinthians monitors Carlos Vinícius, the Brazilian football market records other strategic movements. Grêmio is watching the situation of striker Everton Cebolinha, a former player of the Rio Grande do Sul club who is now at Flamengo. Negotiations with Russia’s FK Krasnodar were halted due to the player’s medical history; he is now evaluating offers from Colorado Rapids in MLS and Italy’s Fiorentina. The southern club faces financial difficulties in bringing back the former idol because of the R$ 1.2 million salary he receives in Rio de Janeiro.
