Public service exams remain active during election

On August 3, 2026, the electoral calendar moved forward with the officialization of the first candidates, but the law allows the continuation of public service exams in the country. By the end of 2026, two contests already have a published notice and five others have defined the organizing board.

Exams with open registrations

Positions at the Technology and Information Company of Social Security (Dataprev) can be applied for until August 6, through the Fundação Getúlio Vargas website. The Brazilian Agency for Managing Guarantee Funds (ABGF) also accepts registrations until the same date, on the Fundação Carlos Chagas portal.

Exams with defined board and without notice

There are selection processes already with a defined board, but still without a published notice, for Petrobras, Brazilian Nuclear Industries, Federal Nursing Council, Federal Accounting Council, and the National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Anater).

Limitations on filling positions

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) clarifies that holding public service exams in an election year is fully permitted, with no restrictions. However, “in the three months preceding the elections until the inauguration of the elected officials, except for certain cases, authorities may not summon candidates who passed the exams to fill public positions.”

Specialists' guidance

Eduardo Cambuy, coordinator of Gran Concursos, states that “the need is evident, there is budgetary provision, and a structure is already prepared for this to happen. So, I think you shouldn’t be discouraged. It is precisely the best moment.” He recommends that candidates start studying the basic subjects, which usually carry the most weight in the exams.
