The meteorological situation becomes even more complicated on Monday, when Poland comes under the direct influence of two low‑pressure systems named Raphael and Tessa. These systems are secondary and derive from a large low‑pressure area covering all of Northern Europe, moving from the Atlantic Ocean eastward. The approach of these atmospheric fronts triggers a marked deterioration of the weather, with cloudiness increasing from moderate to total throughout the day.

Risks of strong storms and hail

With Raphael and Tessa active, Monday will see rain advancing from the west into the interior of the country. In Western Pomerania, the south, the centre and the east of Poland, local storms are forecast that can be quite severe. Meteorologists point to the risk of torrential rain accumulating 20‑30 liters of water per square metre, as well as the possibility of hail. During the thunderstorms, wind gusts may reach 70‑90 km/h, representing a sharp contrast with the weak to moderate winds of Sunday.
