Bayer's recent announcement regarding the construction of a new pharmaceutical plant in Ohio, United States, and its massive investments in agricultural research, have brought the 'factory' theme to the forefront of discussions in Brazil, alongside stories of small entrepreneurs who also excel in producing specific items.

Bayer Launches $2.2 Billion Plant in Ohio

The company announced the construction of a pharmaceutical products plant in New Albany, Ohio, with a $2.2 billion investment. The project is expected to create 1,500 jobs during the construction phase and 600 highly skilled permanent positions, focused on biomanufacturing of medicines. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine called the initiative a "historic victory" and the largest German direct investment in the state. CEO Bill Anderson highlighted that the facility will house specialized expertise to produce innovative medicines starting in 2031, with a second module planned for 2034.

Life Sciences Training Center Supports New Plant

To meet the demand for professionals, Bayer will open a $30 million Life Sciences Training Center, which is expected to certify workers in pharmaceutical biomanufacturing. The center will be located near seven Ohio research universities, such as Ohio State University, strengthening the region's biotechnology hub.

Bayer's €2 Billion Investment in Agricultural R&D

Bayer allocates approximately €2 billion annually to agricultural development, focusing on ten 'blockbuster' projects planned between 2025 and 2030. Seven of these projects are biotechnology-based, and four are expected to reach Brazil, where the company is increasingly prioritizing the demands of regional teams. The intensive use of artificial intelligence allows for reducing genetic improvement cycles from five years to four months, accelerating the market arrival of new seeds and technologies.

Brazilian Entrepreneur Creates Giant Banner Factory

In Diadema (SP), Rogério Maldonado transformed his passion for football into a giant banner factory that grosses around R$40,000 per month. The business, which started with the production of a single flag for his fan club, now serves major clubs, federations, and corporate events, employing approximately 11 collaborators. It recently received an R$80,000 investment to expand its production structure.

Highlight Projects of the Giant Banner Factory

Among the most emblematic works are a giant banner of nearly 21,000 square meters for Fluminense at the Maracanã, and the full coverage of the Morumbi stadium sectors during São Paulo Futebol Clube's anniversary celebration. The company also produces strips, mosaics, large jerseys, and textile materials for promotional campaigns, diversifying its operations beyond stadiums.
