Atlético-MG officially announced last Friday (11) the departure of midfielder Patrick to Red Bull Bragantino, in a deal finalized less than an hour before the transfer window closed.
Details of the deal between Atlético-MG and Bragantino
The loan runs until the end of the 2027 Campeonato Paulista and includes a clause allowing the spell to be extended through December of the same year. In addition, the contract provides for an option to buy at a set fee, although the figures were not disclosed.
Injury history and time off the pitch
Patrick, 22, has not played in more than 14 months. Since arriving at Cidade do Galo in 2025, the player has endured a string of physical setbacks: a right ankle sprain, a lumbar stress fracture in July 2025, a right thigh injury in November 2025, and, most recently, surgery to repair a complex ligament injury in his right knee, performed in April.
Limited appearances for Atlético-MG
Signed in January, Patrick made only ten appearances and scored one goal in the black-and-white shirt. In the current season, he was an unused substitute on four occasions—against América, Internacional, Vitória, and São Paulo—without coming onto the pitch.
Motivations behind the transfer
Lacking space in the squad and without recent matchday call-ups, the midfielder sought a new opportunity at Bragantino, a Série A club that confirmed its interest in the final moments of the window. The player had previously received an offer from a club in the United Arab Emirates in August, but the deal did not move forward.
Next steps and contract with Galo
Patrick remains under contract with Atlético-MG until December 2028. If Bragantino decides to exercise the purchase option, the permanent transfer will proceed according to the agreed clause. Meanwhile, the midfielder will begin this new chapter in São Paulo, awaiting the opportunity to get his career back on track after an extended rehabilitation period.
