André Marinho, Novo party candidate for Rio de Janeiro governor, launched a series of proposals during his campaign in Niterói and São Gonçalo. The main focus is on actions to reclaim territories controlled by drug trafficking and improve mobility in the Metropolitan Region.

Plan to Reclaim Territories Dominated by Drug Trafficking

Marinho pledged to reclaim control of 30 territories dominated by criminal organizations in the state by 2030. Among the locations mentioned are Complexo do Salgueiro, Jardim Catarina, and Jardim Califórnia, areas that, according to the candidate, suffer from the dominance of factions.

Strategy to Combat Faction Financing

The candidate stated that he intends to cut off the funding sources of criminal organizations, combining this action with an increase in the penitentiary system's capacity and the appreciation of police officers.

Proposal for International Cooperation with the United States

In an interview, Marinho advocated for the creation of an intelligence and technology exchange with American agencies such as the FBI, CIA, DEA, ATF, and Homeland Security. He stated that the partnership would preserve the command of operations with Brazilian authorities.

Blue Line Project for Mobility

In the area of transportation, Marinho proposed the creation of the Blue Line, a subway system coupled with the structure of the Rio-Niterói Bridge. The route would connect Niterói, São Gonçalo, and downtown Rio, linking to the extension of Metro Line 2 up to Praça XV and Estácio Terminal. The objective, according to the candidate, is to reduce congestion and expand transportation alternatives.

Valuing Police Officers and Expanding Prison Capacity

In addition to security measures, Marinho emphasized the need to value public security agents and expand the capacity of the prison system, as part of the “Sai Fuzil entra Brasil” plan.
