On February 1, 2025, the day of Alcolumbre's inauguration, Vorcaro sent congratulations to the senator, calling him a “friend” and wishing him “the best years”. The president replied with “Hey my love! Thank you so much for everything, especially for your affection and fraternal friendship! I’m your brother!!! For life!!”. Heart‑emoji exchanges and “brother” declarations were repeated throughout 2025, indicating a relationship that goes beyond mere political courtesy.

Using friendship for practical matters

The conversations reveal that Alcolumbre turned to Vorcaro to obtain information from journalists, as shown by the January 3 message when the senator asked for the source of a report. On another occasion, Vorcaro tried to contact the Senate president to discuss a negotiation involving the sale of Banco Master to BRB, but Alcolumbre said he had no information on the matter.

Institutional reaction and CPI rejection

Since the Banco Master fraud scheme became public, senators have requested the creation of a CPI to investigate the case. Alcolumbre, however, blocked all proposals, arguing that the issue could not be a priority. In May, the Senate president used procedural tricks to prevent the commission’s installation, justifying the decision as a political strategy during the election period.
